FirstDraft is just a simple way to write in your browser. It has no extra features and everything happens in the browser. You can write freely, and your text is never sent to our server.

Good writing should be easy to do. Too often, we struggle with finding the perfect text editor to do it. FirstDraft might not be perfect for you, but it may be just the thing for a lot of people. The goal is to keep it clean, simple and easy to use.

How it works

Writing happens right in the browser, just start writing. Your text is saved every second to your browser's local storage, your text never leaves your computer. You can close the browser, shut down your computer, and return later and your writing will be there. You can copy it to another application, or print it. There is even a distraction-free focus mode that simply switches your browser to fullscreen mode for a blank slate.

Handcrafted

FirstDraft was crafted as a weekend project by Peter Davenport, a WordPress expert, who wanted a nice place to write. FirstDraft was not made using WordPress, it is built with modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript. If you have questions, or want to chat with Peter, get in touch here.
